Three of Our Favorite Facial Peels

According to legend, Cleopatra had a practice of taking a bath in milk, which is full of lactic acid, to achieve radiant skin. Although there is nothing new about the method, using an acid solution to remove surface skin layers is sometimes tricky. Some of the general formulations will dissolve only dead cells, while others help to treat fine lines and dark spots but may require significant downtime. When you are talking about medical-grade peels, there are different forms available for different situations. We are proud to offer a number of facial peels at our office.

Superficial and Medium

If you are only dealing with superficial skin problems like acne, enlarged pores, or dull skin tone, a superficial chemical peel may be all that you need. Superficial facial peels typically utilize a light concentration of acids to remove only the very outermost skin layer composed of dead skin cells, dirt, oils, and cellular debris.

For more stubborn skin complaints, a medium peel may be used to help treat problems like severe sun damage, enlarged pores, and wrinkles. Sometimes, a medium chemical peel is enough to help smooth your complexion and minimize many skin problems. Some patients require a deeper peel, however.

Deep Facial Peel

A deep chemical peel is utilized in the cases of more severe skin problems. As the most powerful form of chemical peel, the deep peel offers dramatic results but does require more downtime than other facial peels to allow your skin time to heal.

VI Peel

Another one of our favorite facial peels is known as the VI Peel. This is a versatile peel treatment that can be used in the comfort of our office to address a variety of skin issues ranging from acne and signs of aging to uneven skin tone and sun-damaged skin.
