Micro-Needling: What to Expect

Has your skin seen better days? Skin problems like acne scars, wrinkles, stretch marks, and hyperpigmentation can definitely leave their mark and have a negative impact on your appearance. Many people mistakenly believe that only surgery offers the kind of results that have a noticeable effect on skin problems like these. In reality, a growing number of non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatments have become available recently to offer patients significant results without the need to go under the knife. If you can correct or minimize your skin problem without the need for surgery, you can avoid some of the potential complications and recovery time associated with surgical procedures. You should be happy to know that many minimally-invasive treatments like micro-needling exist!

A Closer Look at Micro-Needling

Collagen Induction Therapy, commonly known as micro-needling, is a minimally-invasive approach to anti-aging. The treatment stimulates your own body’s natural collagen repair process. It helps to improve your skin tone and texture and minimize signs of aging. The process stimulates your skin cells into producing growth factors that encourage skin remodeling to minimize signs of aging, sun damage, scars, and hyperpigmentation.

What are the Advantages?

As a minimally-invasive skin rejuvenation technique, micro-needling allows you to resume your daily activities almost immediately. Your results will continue to build in the days, weeks, and months after your treatment. Your skin will be stimulated into producing and laying down fresh collagen and elastin fibers to renew the appearance of your face. In the process, problems like scars, wrinkles, and other skin complaints will be fade away.

Combination Treatments

Many patients find that they have even better results when they combine their micro-needling treatment sessions with the application of topical skin care products. One problem that topicals often have is that they have difficulty penetrating very deep into your skin due to the outer skin barrier called the stratum corneum. The tiny micro-channels created by micro-needling allow topicals to bypass this barrier and penetrate more deeply into your skin, greatly enhancing their penetration and effectiveness.

Multiple Sessions

One micro-needling treatment may be enough if you are only dealing with minor skin complaints. Many patients find that they see additional benefits when they undergo multiple treatment sessions.
