What is CoolSculpting?

Traditional dieting and exercise are useful for total fat reduction but can struggle to address fat in specific areas of your body. CoolSculpting is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that reduces body fat in targeted areas. The FDA approves using the CoolSculpting procedure for your jawline, chin, arms, back and bra fat, flanks, abdomen, thighs, and under the buttocks.

During your CoolSculpting treatment, fat cells are frozen with a CoolSculpting vacuum applicator. Since fat cells are unable to withstand freezing temperatures, they are destroyed in the process. It’s common for patients to feel a tugging sensation during the procedure; however, it should not be painful. With no downtime, you can quickly return to your day after treatment.

Zeltiq CoolSculpting

With CoolSculpting, it is important to watch out for imitation products and treatments that promise results but use unsafe or ineffective methods. Zeltiq CoolSculpting is the first and only approved CoolSculpting treatment. Our team solely offers Zeltiq CoolSculpting to our patients, so you don’t have to guess whether your treatment is safe or useful for your body.

CoolSculpting Cost

Your CoolSculpting treatment cost will depend on how big the area is that you’re targeting and how many sessions it will take to reduce it. Since CoolSculpting is typically considered a cosmetic procedure, medical insurance generally does not cover it. However, we offer rotating specials to help our patients effectively manage their body contouring and cosmetic costs.

How Long Does the CoolSculpting Procedure Take?

CoolSculpting is often referred to as the “lunchtime liposuction” because it is completed so quickly, and often in under an hour. In addition to its quick process, CoolSculpting doesn’t come with downtime like traditional liposuction surgery. After your treatment, you aren’t confined to your bed to heal. Instead, you can return to your daily routine right away. It’s just best to avoid heat and exercise for the first 24 hours following your CoolSculpting treatment.

Is CoolSculpting Permanent?

Since CoolSculpting destroys your fat cells, it can be effective permanently. However, if you gain weight following the treatment, new fat cells can develop, so it’s best to continue with a healthy lifestyle after. It is common to see results from your CoolSculpting appointment around three weeks to four months later because it takes time for your body to absorb the dead fat cells.

Results of CoolSculpting

Our follow-up appointments can track how close you are to achieving your desired body aesthetic and fat reduction results. While some patients can achieve results from one treatment, others may take two to three CoolSculpting sessions for the full effect. A single CoolSculpting treatment can reduce a patient’s targeted body fat by around 20 to 25 percent. It’s ideal to schedule CoolSculpting sessions at least 60 days apart to best judge your current progress.

How is Fat Freezing Effective?

Fat freezing is effective because fat cells respond uniquely to reduced temperatures. While the procedure’s targeted cooling combats and kills fat cells, your other tissues and nerves aren’t affected by the slight drop in temperature. The procedure may cause a slight tingling sensation or be followed with temporary numbness; however, it isn’t a painful fat reduction method like surgery. Since fat is specifically targeted, it doesn’t cause lasting tissue damage or scarring.

Am I a Good Candidate For CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is most effective for low BMI patients who aren’t seeing specific results with standard weight loss measures and are looking to reduce stubborn areas of fat. Unlike traditional liposuction, CoolSculpting isn’t effective for removing large sections of fat, so patients should be within 10 to 15 pounds of their ideal weight to see the best results.

CoolSculpting is exclusive to fat reduction and is not used to tighten the skin or reduce signs of cellulite. However, it is unlikely to cause saggy skin because it persuades the body to break up fat over a series of two to three months. While effects aren’t quickly drastic, the treatment’s slow but steady results are more likely to be permanent than other cosmetic treatments.
